Mihaela Afanasov has over 15 years of experience in law practice, during which she has been involved in complex legal projects, representing internal and international clients, both private and public entities.
Education
Mihaela has two bachelor’s degrees in law, one in national law – obtained from the Faculty of Law – University of Bucharest, and one in European law – obtained from the Faculty of Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne from France. She is a graduate of two master’s degrees: Private Law – obtained from the Faculty of Law – University of Bucharest, and European and International Business Law at the Paris 1 Pantheon-Sorbonne Faculty in France.
Professional experience
In her practice, Mihaela Afanasov has successfully advised companies and public entities acting in different fields, such as artistic, aviation, public administration, retail, clothing, cosmetics, mining, oil & gas, in relation to various legal projects.
In the field of labour, she has provided consultancy and representation for both public entities and private employers with large number of employees, in all matters deriving from employment relationship, such as: conclusion of labour related documents, individual and collective negotiations, labour disputes, immigration, preparing legislative proposal drafts and overall compliance with labour regulations. Mihaela guides companies to redesign their workforce to be compliant with an ever-changing regulatory context and achieve their business strategy for their human resources in the long run.
In the corporate and commercial area, she worked with clients from different business sectors, providing assistance both with incorporation/ transformation/ dissolution procedures and with day-to-day activity (drafting contracts, assistance in contractual negotiations, dispute resolution). Mihaela enables reliable assistance on complicated transactions to optimise both deal certainty and clients’ targeted value through a mix of legal experience, analytic skills and industry knowledge.
Her expertise also includes advice and representation in relation to administrative law, public procurement, public-private partnerships, competition, and non-reimbursable European funds. She was part of the teams of professionals representing the Romanian State in different international arbitrations.
She is the author and co-author of specialized articles published in recognized journals in the field of law.
